About Me

My name's Naomi, and I'm 18. If you were wondering, my birthday's the 2nd of January. I live in England, and right now, it's raining, like it usually does.
I love Star Wars, and I have done since I was about 7. I love to watch the films and read the EU books. My favourite book would have to be Traitor, by Matthew Stover, since it's about two of my favourite characters and the writing style is just so weird.
I like my rock music, namely the Foo Fighters, Hoobastank, Vegastar.

About My Dolls

I first found out about dolls when the dollmakers at Dollzmania were the latest fad. We'd all go to the computer rooms at lunchtime and make our own little dolls, not even noticing that most of the outfits were pillow-shaded (or not shaded at all!). Eventually, I found the Pixel Punks doll site (which has now closed), and started making my own dolls in MSPaint. They were terrible! Most of the clothes were skin-tight, just because I didn't know how to shade and just copied the shading on the base. If they were wearing any skirts, they'd just be shaded with a few lines down the edge and no folds. I made about 30 dolls in total, and I hardly improved at all. Unfortunately, all of these dolls were lost when my computer broke.
A while later, I found some more doll sites and tried out the photoshop demo to make my own dolls. My first ever doll was the little one in a poncho. I was really pleased with it (and I still am! Those are some of the best boots I've ever done!). I've definitely improved, now. I've got my own style, but I like to experiment with other techniques from tutorials and other people's dolls.
I'm a toolshader, through and through. I've tried pixel shading, and the result was horrible. So well done to all the dollers who make fantastic pixel-shaded dolls, it's so difficult!
My favourite doll category would probably be formal, I can dream up pretty dresses, which are usually fun to shade, and I like dolling characters from books and films, since the costumes can be so beautiful.

About My Site

The name comes from Star Wars: it's the sound a lightsaber makes when it turns on (except for that one time, when it went 'click-whoosh').
The site was originally on freewebs, but I had to add another freewebs site when I couldn't fit any more dolls on. You can hardly fit anything on freewebs! I was about to hit the limit on the second site, too, so I decided to switch to awardspace. It's a bit different, since I've had to code the site myself, but I've definitely learned a lot about HTML!
